Rick Dhaliwal: J.P. Barry, the agent for Henrik and Daniel Sedin, said that there have been no decisions made on their future and one isn’t likely to happen until after the season.
On the Florida Panthers …
Craig Custance: Panthers 2015 second-round pick Adam Mascherin has told the team that he won’t be signing with them. They are now looking to trade him.
On the Washington Capitals and John Carlson, the San Jose Sharks and Evander Kane …
Craig Custance of The Athletic: Pending unrestricted free agent defenseman John Carlson is tied for the lead in defenseman scoring with 61 points and may have priced himself out of Washington.
“It’s tough because we have to go in and balance what we have to pay him, (Tom) Wilson and other roster decision,” Capitals GM Brian MacLellan told The Athletic. “It’s going to come to a point where we have this much to spend. We really like the player, we really like the season.”
MacLellan said they have had some contract talks but it would likely be an offseason decision.
“I’m assuming he’s going to say yes or no and ‘I’m going to see what’s out there. If I can get $8 million somewhere else …’” MacLellan said. “I don’t know. That’s me reading the tea leaves. They haven’t come out and said that. They want to sign, I want to sign.”
San Jose Sharks GM Doug Wilson has like the way Evander Kane has fit now and possibly in the future. Kane has five goals and five assists in ten games since being acquired by the Sharks.
“He’s done all the things we’ve asked him to do. For us, he fits for now and the future. He has the right ingredients. He’s the right age,” Wilson told The Athletic. “He’s 26 and plays the game a certain way. I have a lot of cap space. A lot of cap space. Do I have enough cap space to take care of our own guys and keep Evander and do some other things? I do.”
