On the Montreal Canadiens and Carey Price …
Matt Cudzinowski of Canadiens.com: Goaltender Carey Price has a year left on his contract and is eligible to sign a contract extension after July 1st.
“I love playing here. I’m sure we’ll figure something out,” said Price, who will otherwise enter the final year of a six-year contract in 2017-18. “Like I said, I want to stay here. I know we’ll figure out a way to make all of the pieces fit and bring a championship here.”
Top 10 players that could be traded this offseason …
Kevin Allen of USA Today: Looking at the top 10 players who could be traded this offseason.
1. Matt Duchene – Colorado – The Avs are looking for a young defenseman, at least two prospects and possibly a first round pick.
2. Jonas Brodin – Minnesota – Makes sense to trade him instead of losing him for nothing in the expansion draft. Some talk of trading Matt Dumba instead.
3. Sami Vatanen – Anaheim – The Ducks don’t really want to trade any of their defensemen, but they may have to, to go the seven – three – one route. Vatanen is out for the start of the season. He has three years left at $4.85 million.
4. Ilya Kovalchuk – New Jersey – Sign-and-trade and the Devils shouldn’t have a problem moving him.
5. Marc-Andre Fleury – Pittsburgh – Would the Flames or Jets be interested?
6. Jonathan Drouin – Tampa Bay – GM Yzerman is looking for a top-four defenseman and might have use Drouin to get one.
7. Jordan Eberle – Edmonton – Fans would like to see him moved, but it’s not certain that Chiarelli would move him.
8. Antti Raanta – NY Rangers – Would the Flames, Jets and others be interested before he’s exposed for the expansion draft.
9. Philipp Grubauer – Washington – Could be a No. 1 goalie and will be exposed in the expansion draft if he’s not traded.
10. Evander Kane – Buffalo – Seems like logical move for new GM Jason Botterill. One year left at $5.25 million.
