Hurricanes looking for offense and goaltending
The Fourth Period: The Carolina Hurricanes continue to look for offense.
The Hurricanes seem willing to include Brett Pesce in a trade for William Nylander, and as reported earlier this month, have spoken with Nylander’s camp about what a potential contract could look like. Other players in a potential Hurricanes-Maple Leafs trade have been discussed.
The Hurricanes are also looking for a goaltender, with GM Don Waddell exploring options there.
Penguins may not be done making moves
Pens Inside Scoop: Pittsburgh Penguins GM Jim Rutherford after they made the trade yesterday to acquire Tanner Pearson: “We felt that we needed to make some changes. This could be the start of more changes or we’ll see how this goes for a little bit. Way things have gone for first part of the season it’s obvious we had to change something up.”
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet’s Tim and Sid said that he doesn’t believe the Pittsburgh Penguins are finished making moves and that GM Jim Rutherford has a couple other potential deals on the go.
“I heard there was something going on with potentially Anaheim and Bob Murray over the last few days. From what I understand it didn’t involve Carl Hagelin, who was involved in this trade today. So I think the chances that Pittsburgh is done are very limited.”
Friedman wonder who they would give up as many of the names that have come up won’t bring back a big return. It may take someone closer to their core group of players to bring back the return that could really help them turn things around.
