Williams could still return to the Hurricanes

Cory Lavalette: Even with the Carolina Hurricanes signing Ryan Dzingel to a two-year deal, it doesn’t close the door on Justin Williams re-signing with the team.

GM Don Waddell has said that they believe that Williams is leaning towards playing another season.

Could mean that they have something else in their plans.

Blackhawks shopping Anisimov and Perlini

Michael Wagner: Jay Zawaski said that along with shopping Artem Anisimov the Chicago Blackhawks are shopping restricted free agent forward Brendan Perlini.

Predators may hold on to Turris for now

Adam Vingan of The Athletic: Nashville Predators GM David Poile said they are hoping that Kyle Turris can have a bounce-back season. After signing Matt Duchene to a big free agent deal, many have expected Turris to be moved.

For now, it looks like the Predators are prepared to hold on to him. They are deep, and costly down the middle with Ryan Johansen, Duchene, Turris and Nick Bonino.

If moving down to the third line doesn’t work out for Turris, his trade value will decrease even further, and he’s not really on a friendly contract.

The Predators are close to the cap ceiling, and if they are looking to trade him at any point, shedding his entire salary would be ideal.

Would a trade with the Montreal Canadiens be a fit after they lost out on Duchene and Sebastian Aho? Marc Dumont wonders if they would be if the Predators retained salary or if they’d consider taking back Karl Alzner in trade. The Predators may have to add a sweetener.

“We’re right at the cap,” Poile said. “That’s the way we’re operating now, and we’ve got to be very careful with our dollars and where we spend (them). It is what it is. We’ve had a really good team for the last four or five years, and we’ve signed a lot of players to longer-term contracts and obviously higher contracts than they’ve previously had. It feels like we’re in a good position.”
