The Charlie McAvoy waiting game…

Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic:  No player wants to wait and play the “chicken game” with management. Unfortunately, the RFA jam-up has caused too many players to have to sit and wait until September at best.

The defenseman appears headed toward a post-entry bridge deal. However, how long will that deal be? Even, fellow defensive mate, Brandon Carlo is not signed yet.

Keep in mind that pre-season opens for Boston on September 16th. That is almost four weeks away still. Boston has a lot of work to do between now and then. Some of that work includes trying to get McAvoy signed to a team-friendly deal.

There is a baseline to be had as Zach Werenski, Ivan Provorov, and Charlie McAvoy will be a scenario where if one gives, the others do too. Which player blinks first? That is the question.

Oh no, not Loui Eriksson again!

TSN Radio Vancouver:  Again, the idea explored was to trade Loui Eriksson and again, he is still a Vancouver Canuck. The Canucks have interest but seemed content holding out for a better offer since most teams are settled in until training camp starts in a couple of weeks.

Been in conversation with Loui Eriksson all summer. We tried to find a fit for him with another team. That didn’t happen. We’ll continue to look but most teams are set with what they did in the summer time.

One must understand that it is not easy to trade a one-dimensional play. The longer Vancouver waits, the lesser the return unless Eriksson breaks out a bit.

In other news, there is one more player Vancouver is eyeing on but…

Been in conversation with Loui Eriksson all summer. We tried to find a fit for him with another team. That didn’t happen. We’ll continue to look but most teams are set with what they did in the summer time.

The key point with the Vancouver Canucks is they have to be patient.

Oh, there’s Mitch Marner again!

NHL Prospects Watcher:  The latest on Mitch Marner rationale goes like this.

More Miller: “I don’t see Marner doing a 7-8 year deal for less than $11M AAV, I just don’t.”

With that, any Mitch Marner talk will be focused on September and maybe October.
