Elvis Merzlikins is safe; no buyouts coming for the Columbus Blue Jackets
Aaron Portzline of The Athletic: Columbus Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell said there is “no chance” that they’ll have any buyouts this year.
There was wonder again about goaltender Elvis Merzlikins, who has a year left on his contract at $5.4 million. Buying him out would be spread out over two years, and it would have been a bold move.

Sean Shapiro: “Quick note: from my understanding, Dallas has checked in on Larkin. Nill also tends to check in on everything, so that’s not surprising. Look at it this way, Robertson extension is priority, but Nill has always been big on having backup plan lined up too.”
