The Dallas Stars are interested in Marc Methot

On the Dallas Stars …

Bob McKenzie: The Dallas Stars have shown interest in Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Marc Methot.

My NHL Trade Rumors: Elliotte Friedman said during the expansion draft show that the Stars have made a play on Vegas defenseman Methot.

Bruce Garrioch: Methot has a 10 team no trade list and he doesn’t want to make any changes to it. Vegas has called teams about Methot.

Shawn Simpson: Methot to the Stars makes sense. Coach Ken Hitchcock had him Columbus and pushed to get him invited to Team Canada camp. The Stars need defensemen, is a low key destination and the state tax is low.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Adrian Dater: Would be a surprise if forward Matt Duchene was still with the Colorado Avalanche past Saturday.

On the New York Islanders, Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger on TSN talking about the New York Islanders and that they could be looking hard to make some moves in the next couple days. The want to sign John Tavares to an extension but they know they need to make some moves to show they can contend. They could be looking at least one top-six forward.

“I look at the obvious: Matt Duchene from the Colorado Avalanche. We know the Avalanche are interested in moving Duchene, and they would like a defenseman in return. The Islanders happen to have a couple in de Haan and Travis Hamonic that could be considered trade bait.

“I would look at Jordan Eberle from the Edmonton Oilers, although I think that trade discussions with the Islanders goes all the way back to perhaps before the trade deadline on March 1.

“And we can’t overlook Alex Galchenyuk of the Montreal Canadiens; again, because of Marc Bergevin and the Montreal Canadiens’ need for some help on the blueline.”
