David Carle isn’t in any rush to leave Denver and return to the NHL

Joe Smith of The Athletic: David Carle spoke with the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks last offseason about a head coaching position, but it left him feeling “there’s zero reason to leave Denver in the near term — if ever.”

Carle’s back in the Frozen Four with Denver and his name will likely come up again this offseason. He said that feelings haven’t changed and things are “status quo.”

“I’m not more close-minded, not more open-minded to it,” Carle said. “There’s no rush to leave here.”

NHL Rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Florida Panthers

The trade talk was legit, but were the St. Louis Blues also trying to light a fire under Robert Thomas?

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman, on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – The Easter Exit episode on St. Louis Blues forward Robert Thomas scoring a hat trick on Saturday and the trade deadline speculation.

** NHLRumors.com transcription

Friedman: “You know, I was watching that, and I’m thinking to myself, how can you trade this guy?”

Kyle Bukauskas: “I was thinking the same. I’m like, Really? This is the guy they’re looking at trading.”

Friedman: “The more I, the more I look at that, and I do think they thought about it like it was legit. As he has said, they never came to him.

But I do think they looked into it, was serious. The more I watch it now, the more I think they just want to light a fire under the guy.”

Bukauskas: “It’s it would fit their history.”

Friedman: “MO, yes.”

Bukauskas: “Yeah. I mean, whether that did it or not, he’s playing great right now.”

…

Friedman: “Yeah, I watched Thomas, and I was, I was thinking, I’ve thought that a bit, that they wanted it known, that they were talking about him.

And I think they, to me, the most likely team was always Utah. And they felt that, I think at the end, they felt that Utah wouldn’t put (Caleb) Desnoyers or (Tij) Iginla in it, and they weren’t doing it without at least one of them.

The St. Louis Blues May Not Stand In Doug Armstrong’s Way

But I don’t think the blues were too unhappy for Thomas, to see if Thomas felt a little uncomfortable with it.”
