On the Detroit Red Wings …
George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press: Sources are saying that Red Wings GM Ken Holland will be back next season.
“He’s going to be back as the GM,” a person familiar with the situation told the Free Press.
On Tuesday, Holland wouldn’t say if he’ll be back or not.
“Two weeks from today, there’s going to be a cleanup day and a team picture day and the media is going to be focusing on the ’18-19 season and who is running the team, who is making the decision and what is the plan,” Holland said. “I know in the next 10 days, the answer to all your questions will be settled.”

On the New York Rangers …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie was on NBCSN and was asked about the New York Rangers and what their offseason may look like. McKenzie says they are open for business and looking to continue their rebuild. They have their own first-round pick, as well Bruins and Lightning. They have their own second-round pick, as well as the Devils.
“So they’ve got five picks in the first two rounds – that’s almost too many. And you say, ‘Well, that’s crazy. They’re a rebuilding hockey team. The more young guys the better you can get.’
“Yeah, to a point. And what I believe is the case is that Jeff Gorton, the general manager, will look at his opportunities. Is there a chance to package up some of those draft picks – one or two or three of the first-round picks- and move much higher in the draft. Or a first-round pick and second-round pick and try and move up in the draft.”
McKenzie adds that they won’t be looking for guys 26 to 28 years old, but if they could add someone 21 to 23 years old, they would be interested.
