Brown’s agent wonders why his client hasn’t been given a chance

Eric Macramalla: The agent, Andy Scott, for Ottawa Senators prospect Logan Brown who was sent to the AHL: “We have never seen an early first round selection met with such resistance by the club which drafted them.”

TSN: Agent Andy Scott continued on TSN 1200 radio.

“It’s one of those situations where I think the prior coach in Guy Boucher for some reason or another, he never took a shine to Logan, but with the new coach D.J. Smith, I certainly think that’s a huge step in the right direction. This coach has a track record of really working with young players and getting the most out of them and I think he’ll be very, very good for Logan, very good for Ottawa.  But, from 10,000 feet, when I look at this situation, I see a team that is in the throws of a rebuild and just driving around Ottawa you see the slogan for this season is ‘The Kids are Alright,’  and if the kids are alright, then play the kids. Why is Logan Brown not being groomed to be the next first or second-line centre?”

Scott adds that the Senators still view him as an integral part of their future.

Ho-Sang has asked the New York Islanders for a trade

Arthur Staple: New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello on Josh Ho-Sang: “Ho-Sang’s rep asked for a trade, so we told him not to report for a few days while we worked on that.”

Andy Graziano: “If #isles move Ho-Sang, it will be for no more than a sixth-rounder, save for any assets being added. Anything better and Lou looks like a genius.”

Arthur Staples of the Athletic: Islanders GM Lamoriello on Ho-Sang’s trade request through agent Ian Pulver.

“This is not a punishment,” Lamoriello said, regarding Ho-Sang not heading to the AHL yet. “I told the representative that I would explore that request. It’s going to take a few days. If there isn’t a transaction that’s in the best interest of the organization, Josh will report to Bridgeport.”

Some teams had an interest in Ho-Sang when he was on waivers, but an interested team may not have had roster room at the time. Also now that Ho-Sang has already cleared waivers, he can immediately be sent to the AHL by the acquiring team.

TSN: Darren Dreger on Josh Ho-Sang’s trade request.

“Josh Ho-Sang clearly wants a fresh start somewhere else. He wants to hit the reset button on his career. It sounds like he is literally waiting for a trade to come his way. He’s not opposed to playing in the American Hockey League, starting in the AHL with a new team. But, right now that is all in the hands of general manager Lou Lamoriello.”
