No deal with the Hurricanes just yet – could go either way
Pierre LeBrun: As of there was obviously no extension in place with the Anaheim Ducks and Justin Faulk. It doesn’t mean that trade won’t be happening at some point between the Ducks and Carolina Hurricanes.
It could go either way as other teams are starting to up their interest in trading for Faulk. The Ducks need Faulk to waive his no-trade clause.
Pierre LeBrun: There are teams that are showing interest in Faulk that do not require him to waive his no-trade clause.
Also, wonders if the Hurricanes would take one last crack at signing him to an extension.
Sara Civ: A Faulk trade to the Ducks doesn’t appear to be imminent at the moment.
Source confirm that the proposed trade offer between the Ducks and Hurricanes would involve Ondrej Kase going to the Hurricanes.
James (Account4hockey): Chris Johnston said on Sportsnet 960 on Tuesday that Justin Faulk will likely be traded even if he doesn’t waive it for Anaheim. There are other teams that are interested.
Ducks mailbag
Eric Stephens of The Athletic: Not one person that spoke with from the Ducks had heard Patrik Laine‘s name come up in any talks involving the Ducks. Ducks GM Bob Murray said that he hadn’t spoken with Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff since the draft.
Not sure if Justin Faulk is that interested in playing out west – the Ducks may need to give him a contract he can’t refuse to agree to the trade.
If the Ducks are unable to acquire Faulk, Buffalo Sabres Rasmus Ristolainen could be an option, Faulk would be a better option than Ristolainen.
If the Ducks do acquire Faulk, it may make sense to pair him with Hampus Lindholm. Cam Fowler and Josh Manson have been paired together before but the results weren’t great.
