Could the Edmonton Oilers be interested in Jason Garrison?
SHARE
On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jim Matheson: thinks that the Edmonton Oilers need another experienced defenseman until Andrej Sekera returns and that they are looking at Vegas Golden Knights blueline. Jon Merrill is a cheap defensive defenseman. Jason Garrison is a more expensive power play guy.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Arthur Staple: Scouting the Los Angeles Kings – New York Islanders game was Montreal Canadiens,GM Marc Bergevin.

On Scouting the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals game …

Adam Kimelman: Scouts listed to attend last night’s Flyers-Capitals game: New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, San Jose Sharks, Arizona Coyotes and Detroit Red Wings.

On the Nashville Predators …

Adam Vingan of The Tennessean: Depending on how Ryan Ellis recovers from his offseason surgery, and how Samuel Girard continues to play, Alexei Emelin could be a trade chip for the Predators. Emelin is a pending unrestricted free agent.

On the New York Rangers …

Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The Rangers are off to a 1-5 start, and there is no sign that there could be a change behind the bench or that a major trade is pending. GM Jeff Gorton needs to look at his options though.

The Rangers haven’t made an in-season blockbuster (not including the trade deadline) in a long time. It’s not easy to make that kind of move in-season anymore.

“Teams aren’t doing it to us, we’re doing it to ourselves,” said J.T. Miller, who had a very strong game. “We played a strong north-south game, won battles, and then for whatever reason we got away from it. We just haven’t been able to play a full 60-minute game and you can’t win in this league without that.

“That’s been the story so far.”
