Oilers still undecided on what to do with Puljujarvi
Sportsnet: Chris Johnston of Sportsnet said that the Edmonton Oilers haven’t made any decision on what to do with RFA forward Jesse Puljujarvi. Trade interest in Puljujarvi continues.
“Right now, Ken Holland has a lot of different options,” Johnston said during the Headlines portion of Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday. “He’s talked extensively with teams going back to this summer, I believe the New York Rangers are a team that continues to show persistent interest in Jesse Puljujarvi.”
The deadline for Puljujarvi to play in the NHL this season is December 1st. GM Holland is heading over to Europe this week to watch him play in a tournament.
“I don’t believe the Oilers have reached an internal decision on what they’re going to do here — if it’s a trade right away, if they hold onto his rights beyond the Dec. 1 headline … or if they try and keep him.”
Team name coming for Seattle
Sportsnet: Seattle could have a team name in place before the All-Stars game according the Chris Johnston.
“It sounds as though they’re very, very close behind the scenes on finalizing that name and they intend to release that name to the public before the all-star break,” Johnston said during Hockey Night in Canada’s Headlines segment. “So we’ll start to get a little bit of personality to go with that team.”
Seabrook clearing the air
Scott Powers of The Athletic: Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook said last Tuesday after being a healthy scratch that he thinks he still has a lot to offer and can “still be a good player for somebody.”
Seabrook on Friday on those comments and if he really wanted out of Chicago.
“I think I got a lot to offer this team,” Seabrook said after the Blackhawks’ practice. “I want to be in Chicago, help this team. I think I still got a lot in the tank. It’s obviously frustrating when you’re not playing. Like I said, I feel like I got lots to offer this group, and I want to be here in Chicago.”
