Teams were calling the Oilers about Nurse
@akaRCN: Frank Seravalli said on Friday on TSN 1260 that the Edmonton Oilers are getting a lot of calls on defenseman Darnell Nurse, but adds that Edmonton “isn’t wild about that.”
The Oilers have some holes to fill … Some free agent option for them could be…
@Prospects_Watch: Ryan Rishaug on TSN said that he expects the Oilers to be active in free agency.
They have a lot of team needs – middle six wingers that have some offense to their game, a third line center, and a backup goalie.
Ryan Rishaug: Would think that Washington Capitals pending UFA Brett Connolly would make a lot of sense for the Oilers.
He’s experienced, has won a Cup, scored 52 goals the past three seasons and is from Western Canada. He’d be a good scoring winger for either Connor McDavid or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
@Prospects_Watch: Potential forward targets include Brett Connolly, Brandon Tanev, Daniel Carr. The Oilers were trying to acquire Petr Mrazek‘s rights at the draft from the Hurricanes.
“They don’t have the cap space don’t fill all those needs but they’ll try and put a dent in that to-do list.”
Kurt Leavins: Believe that the Oilers will be interested in free agent winger Brett Connolly. The 27-year free agent could cost three years and $3 million per.
Bob Stauffer: The Oilers should go after Brett Connolly:
“Middle-six forward, RW.
Should be moderately priced.
Coming off career high 22 goal season.
Overcame injuries as a Junior and early as a Pro. Committed, mature player.”
Jonathan Willis of The Athletic: Looking at some potential free agents who were not qualified, will become UFAs, and who the Edmonton Oilers could be interested in.
