NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers Looking to Add Depth
Host: Are the Florida Panthers, one of those teams you can see making a major move prior to the deadline, because they’re hovering at the wild card spot?”
Anthony Di Marco: “I would imagine so. Like, Bill Zito has already pushed all his chips into the middle, right? So what would be one more big push in that direction? And he’s done it every single year since he’s been in charge, almost. Like, even the year when they got eliminated in what was it, the second round, he made those two big moves for Ben Chiarot and Claude Giroux. The way I look at it, it would just be very much up Bill Zito’s alley to make another move like that.”
NHLRumors.com Note: The Florida Panthers aren’t afraid to make moves. They continue to be linked to players like Jamie Oleksiak, Mario Ferraro, and Connor Murphy. Florida is focused on defence when it comes to adding. It will be interesting to see how they make the money work.

NHL Rumors: Will the Calgary Flames Move Blake Coleman Next?
Host: “Anthony, is this just a matter of time until Nazem Kadri gets moved at this point?”
Anthony Di Marco: “I would like to think so. But I mean, the contract is still the contract, with another three or four years left at $7 million. Now look, centers are at a premium in the NHL, and we saw that in the recent weeks with the contract to Christian Dvorak and Alex Wennberg, which on the surface look like overpays, but again, the centers are just so few and far between.
But I, he has the no-trade protection. I can’t remember. I know it is a modified one, I believe, but as much as I want to say it is a matter of time, I just sometimes look at that contract. I’m just like, I’m not sure how many teams will be able and willing to absorb that for the rest of the years left on the contract.”
NHLRumors.com Note: The Calgary Flames will continue to get calls on not only Nazem Kadri, but also Blake Coleman. However, the Flames know they need some veterans in the lineup. Right now, Kadri wants to remain with the Flames. It will take an offer that GM Craig Conroy can’t refuse to move him, but teams are calling.
