NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers and the Vancouver Canucks

On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov of the Sun-Sentinel: It sounds like Tom Rowe’s days as the Panthers general manager could be coming to an end as well. When asked about how difficult it might be to put the Panthers protected list for the expansion draft.

“Not going to be hard for me at all because Dale’s going to handle it,’’ Rowe said with a laugh. “I’m sure and I will sit down and talk about it.

“It’s all right. Everybody’s going to lose a good player. If I was an owner and paying $500 million for a franchise, I’d expect to have a good team, too.’

On the Vancouver Canucks and the Sedin’s …

Craig Morgan of FanRag Sports: Henrik and Daniel Sedin have a year left on their contracts. They aren’t sure yet if they’ll continue to play, but if they do, it would only be for the Canucks.

“If they see a future for us then we might have another year in us here after next year,” Henrik Sedin said after practice at Gila River Arena. “If not, I don’t think we’re prepared to go anywhere else.”

Both Sedin’s have no-movement clauses and they have no interest in signing with another team in the NHL or going back to play for Modo.

“It’s not a league where you can go back and think you’re going to dominate,” Daniel Sedin said. “It’s not like you can go back and play on the decline. You’ve got to be at the top of your game. You have to prepare the same way. It’s a tough league.”

They know they’ve had an off year and that it’s not just up to them if they remain with the organization past next season.

“Our future is not only up to us now. We know that the management needs to see a place for us in this rebuild. It’s not always in their interest to have guys like us around. Maybe you need a change of personality and all those kinds of things.”
