Isabelle Khurshudyan: Nick Leddy‘s seven-year contract from two years ago with a $5.5 million cap hit is one comparable for Orlov that has heard.
On the New York Islanders …
Arthur Staple of Newsday: Islanders GM Garth Snow is already talking trade and trade rumors are swirling around the Isles.
“We have had numerous discussions,” Snow told Newsday. “There is a lot of talk going on. Any time we can try to make our team better, we will.”
The Islanders need to decide if they will ask Andrew Ladd and Johnny Boychuk if they’d waive their no-movement clauses for for the expansion draft. Snow said at this time they don’t intend to ask them.
Snow wouldn’t comment on trade rumors or the status of contract talks with RFA Calvin de Haan.
Sources not associated with the Islanders have been saying the past few weeks that they believe a contract extension with John Tavares will get done.
