On the Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 690 talking about the Colorado Avalanche and Boston Bruins.
The asking price for Gabriel Landeskog and Matt Duchene is high, and it may not come down. The Avalanche can stay on the same course as they’re heading in the wrong direction. GM Joe Sakic needs to do something.
“There’s active listening, there’s no question about that. But he might have a better canvas to work with at the draft than here in mid-season.”
McKenzie says that he likes Bruins Charlie MacAvoy over Brandon Carlo, and that they are not trading either.
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger noted on TSN’s Insider Trading that the asking price for Gabriel Landeskog would along the lines of “a top-level defenseman, a first-round draft pick, plus.”
Dreger was on ESPN radio in New Hampshire and was talking about the Avalanche-Bruins rumors involving Landeskog and Carlo. Dreger notes that he doesn’t think the Avs and Bruins got down to specifics of what could be headed back to the Avs.
“I believe that Boston – Ottawa is another team that would have some interest. There would be a lot of teams with interest in Landeskog because of the character of the individual and what you think he can provide, and his age, and everything that goes along with that.
“But I don’t know that Don Sweeney and Joe Sakic have actually hammered out what the parameters of a deal between those two clubs would look like. All I was told by a couple of NHL teams was that when you’re dealing with Sakic, when you’re dealing with a piece like Landeskog – that would be the expected rate of return.”
