Brian McNally: Washington Capitals GM Brian MacLellan said that they still haven’t made a decision on whether to send Andre Burakovsky a qualifying offer or not. They are waiting to see what the salary cap number is going to be before addressing the RFA deadline on Monday.
JJ Regan: MacLellan has had contract talks with RFA Jakub Vrana. They will wait for the cap number to come out.
Oilers called the Hurricanes about Mrazek
Pierre LeBrun: Have heard that the Edmonton Oilers have talked to the Carolina Hurricanes about the rights to goaltender Petr Mrazek.
The Hurricanes don’t want to move him yet as they are still hoping to be able to re-sign him.
Hurricanes and Faulk to talk extension
Frank Seravalli: The Hurricanes are hoping to meet with Justin Faulk‘s camp at the draft to discuss what a potential contract extension might look like.
Both the Hurricanes and Faulk think an extension is possible, but if the Hurricanes think that the numbers are way off, they could look at trading him this weekend.

Frank Seravalli: The Hurricanes are getting calls from teams about both their left- and right-handed defensemen.
Teams are asking about Brett Pesce but the Hurricanes don’t want to move him.

Pierre LeBrun: Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney is expected to meet with Marcus Johansson‘s agent in the next few days. Sweeney will need to know what the salary cap is going to be before they start talking numbers.
Matt Kalman: Bruins GM Sweeney on restricted free agents Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo, and Danton Heinen: “Those guys will be playing for the Boston Bruins at some point in time next year, it’s just a matter of when we find common ground.”
