Henrik Lundqvist would be a perfect trade partner for San Jose

Larry Brooks of the New York Post:  Alas, the dream scenarios for Henrik Lundqvist dwindle as his age goes up. However, the San Jose Sharks represent likely his best chance at winning the Stanley Cup. The goalie steers a rebuild in New York that could make strides this year.

Sadly, lots could go wrong in New York. If players do not develop quite as fast, or if other free agents do not pan out, then Lundqvist may opt for an exit.

Chicago Blackhawks about to get busy…

Mark Lazerus of The Athletic:  The message resonates loud and clear. Chicago will get busy and soon more than likely. However, let’s outline the scenarios.

First, Chicago stands part. The Blackhawks played at around a 100-point pace over the second half. That could sustain for an entire season. Second, Chicago signs Ryan Dzingel adds Ryan Murphy and rotates Brent Seabrook. This seems so unlikely though.

Third, that cannot happen because Jacob Trouba is in New York. However, what if Chicago went after Sami Vatanen or a defenseman in that salary range? They could sign Joe Pavelski, Val Filppula, and maybe add another player (depth).

Finally, go to youth and sign Anders Lee. That would leave a good bit of cap space and hope that all the kids develop. This allows Chicago to max their cap space and keep the money for Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat.

Tampa Bay’s Julian Brisebois charts a course that looks familiar

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic (Notebook):  A few options are out there but it looks like Julian Brisebois will go the physical route.

One scenario involves trading for Rasmus Ristolainen. The cost rises for Ristolainen and may involve Mikhail Sergachev. If that is the case, Brisebois may walk away.

His first priority remains to re-sign Brayden Point. Tampa Bay cannot overreact or panic in the next several weeks. That becomes their biggest key.
