  • Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: (mailbag) With eight defenseman signed to contracts, and seven on one-way deals, the Avs could look to move one, though Patrick Roy likes to have a surplus on the blueline. They could use Stefan Elliott as a trade chip. Ryan Wilson could also be on the outs, though finding a team that wants to take him straight up may not be easy. He could be used in a package deal if they go that way.The Avs are not interested in Michael Del Zotto.
  • Adrian Dater: Still expecting Ryan O’Reilly to go to salary arbitration next Wednesday.
  • Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun: Linden Vey signed a two-way qualifying offer from the Canucks, as they wouldn’t budge off of their offer.

“At the end of the day any player would want to be on a one-way, but the reality is Linden would have to clear waivers and to be blunt we are not that concerned about that,” Hodgson said.

Vey is expected to get a long look as their third line center during training camp.

  • Rich Chere: Devils Lou Lamoriello said there is nothing new to report on RFAs Eric Gelinas and Adam Larsson.
  • Tom Gulitti: Lamoriello said that things are “status quo” with regards to UFA Ryan Carter.
  • Igor Eronko: The salary cap for the KHL will be $32 million next year, down from $40 million this past year. There are four players whose salary won’t count against the salary cap: Ilya Kovalchuk, Alex Radulov, Sergei Kostitsyn and Alex Burmistrov. They get exceptions as “particularly valuable” for the KHL.
  • Alessandro Seren Rosso: Kings prospect Nikolai Prokhorkin wants to sign a three-year deal with CSKA of the KHL. Good chance he stays there.
