- Scott Cruickshank of the Calgary Herald: The Flames signed three players yesterday, but their work is not finished.
“We’re … hours into the summer,” Brad Treliving told reporters Tuesday afternoon at the Saddledome. “There’s lot of work to be done. This doesn’t end (the process of) adding to our team, looking at opportunities to make us better. There’s so much excitement around (July 1). This doesn’t signal the end of our work this summer.
“We’re going to be patient now. We’re going to let the dust settle for a day or two.”
The Flames did all they could to re-sign Mike Cammalleri, who ended up signing a five-year deal with the Devils. Though they didn’t give him a qualifying offer, the Flames are interested in bringing Paul Byron back.
- Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: Mikhail Grabovski and Derek Roy could be two options for the Predators. Grabovski is looking for five-years and $25 million, which may be too much of the Preds. Roy could be a safer, cheaper option. Cooper thinks the Preds will get one of the two.
- The Fourth Period: It is believed that the Flyers and Predators have resumed talks regarding Vincent Lecavalier. Predators GM David Poile wants the Flyers to pay a portion of Vinny’s salary, paid out a $2 million signing bonus yesterday, but Poile wants more.
- Sarah McLellan: Improving the Coyotes offense could still happen via free agency and trade. They do want to keep some forward positions open for their young players.
- Jeremy Rutherford: Blues GM Doug Armstrong said their roster is complete barring any moves that arise. They are $6 million under salary cap with RFAs Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Sobotka left to sign. A trade wouldn’t surprise Rutherford.
- Aaron Portzline: The Blue Jackets are looking for a No. 3 goalie, with Portzline nothing that Cal Heeter is available.
