Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette: It won’t be easy for the Canadiens without a No. 1 center. Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin won’t dealing from a position on strength if they decide to acquire a some center help.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: With the Canadiens needing centers, and the Winnipeg Jets having an abundance, would a Alex Burmistrov deal work?
Darren Dreger: The Canadiens issues at center have been talked about for weeks. Galchenyuk and Desharnais being out for six to eight weeks adds to the pressure.
Pierre LeBrun: Don’t think that the Canadiens have shown a lot of interest in Coyotes center Martin Hanzal so far this year. Do the injuries to Galchenyuk and Desharnais change that?
Pierre LeBrun: Think the Coyotes would rather get a young, NHL ready (or close to being ready) player for Hanzal than draft pick(s) or young prospects(s).
Brian Wilde: “If I were Bergevin, I would change nothing here in my plans. Carry on. If there’s a deal, okay. But can’t press it. No need to.”
