  • Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press: The Jets and Michael Frolik had discussed a five-year contract before settling for a one-year. $3.3 million deal on Tuesday. Neither side would say what held a long-term deal up, but can guarantee that it had to do with money. Frolik may play in the Jets top-six, but he’s more of a third line player. If they are able to agree on a long-term deal at a later date, it can’t be made official until January 1st, 2015. If they can’t agree on a deal, the Jets could look to trade him at the deadline for a prospect and/or draft picks.

“We’ve had many, many discussion’s with Michael’s agent (Allan Walsh) about a multi-year deal,” said Cheveldayoff. “We both felt it was best to agree to a one-year deal at this time and continue conversations as we move forward.”

  • Sarah McLellan of Arizona Republic: Coyotes UFA Paul Bissonnette on the being unsigned in a slowing free agent market.

“There’s a stalemate right now where some are either at the cap, maybe a little bit below it or over it where they want to make moves, but teams are waiting,” Bissonnette said. “I find that one or two trades are going to spark more movement.”

“I would have liked to stay but sometimes you gotta move on and if you’re not in their future plans, whatever,” Bissonnette said. “It’s a business.”

UFA Jeff Halpern would have liked to stay with the Coyotes. Halpern still thinks he can play and is waiting for a team to call with an offer.

  • Matthew Sekeres: Canucks president Trevor Linden said they are done with the free agency.
