On the Boston Bruins …
Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: (mailbag) The Bruins shouldn’t trade 2016 1st round pick Charlie McAvoy. If the cost to acquire Jacob Trouba is either Joe Morrow or Jakub Zboril, a forward like Ryan Spooner and a first round pick, the Bruins should do it.
Haggerty thinks the Bruins should keep an eye on the Anaheim Ducks as they may need to move some salary to sign their RFAs.
On the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche …
Adrian Dater: Sources saying the Jets were scouting the Avalanche-Wild game last night.
On the Detroit Red Wings, Winnipeg Jets and Jacob Trouba …
Chris Nichols of Today’s Slaphshot: Darren Dreger was on TSN 1040 yesterday and was talking about Jacob Trouba.
Dreger said he knows that Red Wings GM Ken Holland has spoken with Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. Dreger thinks that the Red Wings would trade almost anyone except Dylan Larkin, but there may not be anyone that Cheveldayoff sees as a fit. One of the Red Wings defensemen in a package doesn’t seem to be a fit for the Jets.
“Doesn’t sound like it,” replied Dreger. “Doesn’t sound like it. Danny DeKeyser is a pretty good hockey player. I would have thought him and geez – if you have to throw someone else in, I guess you try and sweeten it.
“But in fairness to Chevy, he’s got a pretty keen idea of what he needs and he has the rights to Jacob Trouba. It’s not an unrestricted free agent situation here, obviously. He’s going to sit tight and wait for a few things to maybe transpire, including the potential – and I’m not suggesting this is going to happen, but it could – the change of heart of the player.”
