On the Carolina Hurricanes …
- David Pagnotta: Have been told that Jeff Skinner’s name continue to circulate. His cap hit and concussion history remain a concern for teams.
On the Los Angeles Kings …
- Bob McKenzie: The Kings are one of a few teams that are interested in Teddy Purcell. The Kings have shown some interest in Justin Schultz. Making the money work for the Kings would be a challenge.
On the Florida Panthers …
- Harvey Fialkov: The Panthers have no interest in Mikkel Boedker.
Garrioch Rumor Roundup …
- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Bruins Loui Eriksson could be next up.
“A couple of guys at the top may need to get moved,” said a league executive with the deadline set for Monday at 3 p.m. EST.
The Kings, Panthers and Predators made calls on Andrew Ladd before the Jets traded him to the Blackhawks.
The Bruins and Eriksson continue to talk, but the sides don’t appear to be close.
It’s believed the Kings have shown interest in Eriksson.
The Hurricanes have been shopping Eric Staal and he could be moved by the deadline. The Hurricanes would likely have to pick up a part of his salary. If he’s going to re-sign, he’ll have to take a pay cut. The Rangers would be interested if they moved him.
The Oilers have been listening to offers on Nail Yakupov. The Predators may be one of the teams interested. A Yakupov deal may have to wait until the offseason.
The Oilers are also looking to move Lauri Korpikoski, Teddy Purcell and Justin Schultz.
The Kings are looking to add some depth to their blueline, but they don’t have a lot of cap space.
Though it’s unlikely he’ll be traded, Islanders GM Garth Snow is listening to offers on Kyle Okposo and his very reasonable $2.8 million cap hit. A first round pick and a prospect may be the going rate for players like Okposo, but that won’t help the Islanders in the playoffs.
