On Jimmy Vesey …
CP on TSN: Jimmy Vesey’s agent, Peter Fish, said yesterday that Vesey is not in a rush to sign.
“It’s certainly not going to be tomorrow,” Fish said. “I would say the earliest may be Friday or Saturday, but I wouldn’t expect it to drag on much into the following week.”
A handful of NHL teams will present formal offers to Vesey and his camp.
They have already had several discussions with the Sabres.
“Tomorrow, we start to find out what our opportunities are, but I can tell you from Buffalo’s standpoint, Jimmy is pleased with what they’ve done and said thus far,” Fish said.
Adrian Dater: Vesey will have to decide if he wants to play for teams that have family and friend connections like the Bruins, Devils and Rangers or teams with better futures like Maple Leafs and Blackhawks.
Kevin Paul Dupont: Vesey said six weeks ago that he would prefer to sign with a team in the East. He will listen to offers in the next two days and hopefully come to a decision by Thursday or Friday.
Darren Dreger: The Maple Leafs push for Vesey will include Auston Matthews.
Adrian Dater: The Chicago Blackhawks have officially reached out to Vesey and have offered a max entry-level contract.
Steve Zipay and Arthur Staple: Sources saying the New York Rangers and New York Islanders are expected to meet with Vesey in the next two days to make their pitches.
Vesey and his agents, Peter Fish and Peter Donatelli, will be meeting with teams in Boston and a decision isn’t expected to be made until Friday.
Jonathan Bombulie: Hearing that the Penguins are among the teams interested in Vesey, though doubtful they are among the favorites.
Darren Dreger: Believe that the Penguins will meet with Vesey today.
Adrian Dater: Tom Fitzgerald has been a family friend for a long time and is a big component of the Devils pitch for Vesey.
Jimmy Murphy: Bruins source saying “we’re still in it.”
