Penguins could move Johnson if they wanted too
Mike Darney: Teams are always willing to move and take contracts. The Pittsburgh Penguins could easily defenseman Jack Johnson if they wanted to. The problem is that the general manager thinks that he is a good player.
Potential landing spots for Perry
Jared Clinton of The Hockey News: Five potential landing spots for free agent Corey Perry: Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers, and St. Louis Blues.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: Have been hearing that the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens are on Perry’s radar. The Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators could also be in the mix.
Jesse Marshall: “Corey Perry doesn’t put the Penguins in a better position than they were in last year. Legs are gone. Game is incomplete. No fit for him on the wing. Hard pass.”
Flames could be looking at Talbot … Frolik could still be moved … Quiet on Brodie
Frank Seravalli: Goaltender Cam Talbot is going over some of his options. He’s been keeping in contact with the Philadelphia Flyers, and talked to a new team on Monday. ‘Smart money’ may be on the Calgary Flames.
Ryan Pike of Flames Nation: Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 960 and said that the Calgary Flames could be moving forward Michael Frolik soon.
“I think there are a couple of teams interested in Frolik. I do think that’s a possibility. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t be hugely surprised if it happened before July 1 with him. I think it comes down to a deal that you guys have to like, but I had some teams tell me that Frolik’s name was out there and they heard of nibbles. There’s something, but we’ll see if it goes anywhere.”
Friedman said that he hasn’t really heard anything lately regarding defenseman TJ Brodie.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: The New Jersey Devils could be a trade partner for Frolik.
Goaltenders Mike Smith and Cam Talbot have been tied to the Flames.
