On Kevin Shattenkirk, Thomas Vanek and Patrick Sharp …
Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Looking at three players who could be traded by the March 1st trade deadline day
Kevin Shattenkirk – at the start of the season, it seemed the Blues were okay with keeping Shattenkirk all season and possibly losing him for nothing. LeBrun thinks that, that has changed now as they may not be a top team in the Western Conference like they thought they might be. GM Doug Armstrong might be getting ready to listen to offers on Shattenkirk.
Thomas Vanek – trade buzz has picked up recently on Vanek as the Red Wings playoff chances may be slipping away. Source saying the Red Wings haven’t talked to any teams about the pending UFA. LeBrun thinks that GM Ken Holland could approach Vanek and his agent to see if they would be interested in an extension.
Patrick Sharp – The Stars next 10-12 games will determine what GM Jim Nill will do at the trade deadline. If they don’t start winning, they will become a seller. The 35-year old Sharp is a pending UFA, with a 10-team limited no-trade clause.
