Teams aren’t calling the LA Kings about Slava Voynov
Josh Cooper: Los Angeles Kings GM Rob Blake said that teams are not inquiring about defenseman Slava Voynov. Blake added that things are currently out of their hands as Voynov hasn’t been reinstated by the league.
Losing Bobrovsky and Panarin for nothing would set Blue Jackets back years
Aaron Portzline of The Athletic: The Columbus Blue Jackets haven’t been able to extend Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin this offseason. Panarin set a September 13th deadline but has told them he’s not ready to sign a long-term extension.
The Blue Jackets and Bobrovsky’s camp have held some negotiations, but they haven’t gone well, and there hasn’t been a lot of discussions.
Trading Bobrovsky and/or Panarin now would likely hurt their chances of seriously competing this season. Losing them both for nothing after the season would put them back several seasons.
Sources are saying that the New York Rangers are Panarin’s preferred landing spot, but may also consider the New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and the Dallas Stars.
The Blue Jackets have received trade offers, but they have been for prospects and draft picks. Trade offers may not improve if everyone believes he wants the Rangers.
For Bobrovsky, not many teams need a No. 1 goalie, and who has the salary cap space to sign one for $10 million a season?
Two Senators that will be hard to move
Ken Warren of the Ottawa Sun: Forward Bobby Ryan has four years and $29 million left on his contract which basically makes him impossible to trade.
Marian Gaborik had offseason back surgery and could eventually be a buyout candidate. GM Pierre Dorion could see if there is a market for him, maybe including him in a potential Erik Karlsson trade to clear more money off payroll.
