On the Los Angeles Kings …
Dennis Bernstein: The Kings are exploring their options on the goalie trade market, though nothing is imminent.
On the Anaheim Ducks …
Dennis Bernstein: When asked about any Cam Fowler to the Maple Leafs for James van Riemsdyk news … nothing happening with the Ducks until they are able to re-sign Hampus Lindholm.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
Jason Brough: Canucks GM Jim Benning was on TSN 1040 and confirmed the contract of defenseman Nikita Tryamkin: “If we wanted to assign him, we’d have to assign him to his KHL team in Russia.”
On the New York Rangers …
Steve Zipay: If Dan Girardi is badly injured and the Rangers look to make a trade, Cam Fowler could be a logical option.
Larry Brooks of the USA Today: Unsigned Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba would fill a big need for the New York Rangers. The Rangers might be able to get Trouba for Brady Skjei and Chris Kreider or maybe Skjei and J.T. Miller. Brooks suggests you might as well include Dylan McIlrath as well.
Even though they could use help on the right side of their blueline and that they do have an abundance of wingers, that price for Trouba is too high.
With there being for rush for a Trouba trade, the Rangers can better gauge what they have in Pavel Buchnevich, Jimmy Vesey, Brandon Pirri and Skjei.
GM Jeff Gorton should be checking in the Jets to see about the possibility though. Trouba would fit into their top-four, but they also would have to consider the cost sign him, their cap situation and a the future expansion draft.
The Rangers also have to consider if they are a contender or not, and if it would be better to wait until free agency to go after a right-handed defenseman – Kevin Shattenkirk.
