On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
Michael Augello: The only way the Maple Leafs would be able to trade Brooks Laich would be to retain 50 percent of salary, and even still it would be hard to trade him.
On the Trade Deadline vs Expansion Draft …
Pierre LeBrun: A GM wondered on Tuesday if the 48 hours before the expansion draft will be busier than the 48 hours before the trade deadline.
On the Los Angeles Kings …
Dennis Bernstein: (answering question) Hard to see the Kings trading for Rick Nash in any deal because of his $7.8 million salary cap hit. They need to re-sign RFAs in Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson.
Dennis Bernstein: Can only see Ryan Miller as an option for the Kings if Jonathan Quick can’t come back. There are other goalies that are more affordable.
On the Colorado Avalanche …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie was on NBCSN talking about Colorado Avalanche.
If he gets the perfect offer, Colorado Avalanche GM Joe Sakic would move Matt Duchene and/or Gabriel Landeskog, but McKenzie thinks that it is more likely to happen at the draft or before the expansion draft.
On the Anaheim Ducks …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie was on NBCSN talking about Anaheim Ducks.
The Anaheim Ducks have a lot of depth on the blueline, and teams are wondering what they are are going to do.
“The sense right now in terms of Cam Fowler or Hampus Lindholm – and to a lesser extent Sami Vatanen – that those roster players are not likely to move anytime soon. But because they’ve got other guys – they’ve got Josh Manson, they’ve got Brandon Montour, they’ve got Shea Theodore, they’ve got Jacob Larsson, who’s playing in Sweden right now – they’ve got a lot of depth at that position. So if they decide that there’s the right deal for a forward there, they could act on it.”
