- Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: The Flyers will need to figure out their blueline with the recent loss of Kimmo Timonen and addition of Michael Del Zotto. Head coach Craig Berube,
“MacDonald and Coburn played together some games last year and I really liked what I saw there as a shutdown pair,” Berube said.
“ Streit and Grossmann played together for quite some time. We’ll see. Maybe with Luke Schenn. Just going into camp you’ve got to look at some combinations and see what looks good.”
Berube could use Luke Schenn with Del Zotto as he likes having a stay-at-home defenseman with a puck-mover. The Flyers see signing Del Zotto as a similar situation when they brought in Steve Mason, someone who needs a fresh start for a chance to earn a bigger contract.
- Luke Fox of SportsNet: Canucks Alex Burrows had been playing beside the Sedin’s but with the Canucks signing Radim Vrbata earlier this offseason, he knows he’ll be dropping down in the lineup. Burrow’s will likely be on the second line with Nick Bonino and either Zack Kassian or Jannik Hansen.
- Joe Yerdon of Pro Hockey Talk: The Bruins could move Gregory Campbell from center to wing this season. Campbell on WEEI in Boston,
“I’ve been a center for the last four years, but I’m not going to . I want to be in a spot where I can complement other guys,” Campbell said. “If they throw me with whoever it is and I have to play wing and we’re a successful line, then so be it. That’s where I want to be. I have played center for a long time, so it may take me a few games, but I’m sure I can do it.”
