Chad DeDominicis: Scouts listed to attend last night’s Sabres – Kings game: Canadiens (3), Kings, Flyers, Bruins, Stars, Flames, Ducks, Jets, Capitals, Vegas, Panthers, Sharks and Maple Leafs. (DeDominicis notes that the Canadiens are usually in attendance for Sabres games)
On the Los Angeles Kings …
Answering twitter questions
Dennis Bernstein: Shane Doan could be a better fit for the LA Kings to play with Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik than Jarome Iginla.
Dennis Bernstein: If coach Darryl Sutter doesn’t have faith in Kings backup Jeff Zatkoff, they might as well waive him.
On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
Chris Nichols: Pierre LeBrun: “Priority No. 1, I believe, for the #TBLightning” would be to trade for another top four defenseman by the trade deadline.
Joe Smith: LeBrun’s comments are not much of a surprise as the Lightning have needed another top four defenseman for awhile.
On the St. Louis Blues …
Chris Nichols: Pierre LeBrun on the Blues: “I do think if there’s a Top-2 center on the market that can play for #stlblues not just this year, but past, that’s the target.”
On the Edmonton Oilers …
Jonathan Willis: Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli on defenseman Kris Russell yesterday: “At some point we’ll talk about an extension.”
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Pierre LeBrun on TSN 1040 was asked if the Edmonton Oilers would be looking for a defenseman after they announced that Darnell Nurse would be for three months.
“Well, the thing is they’re going to get him back, so it’s not like you can take his salary,” noted LeBrun. “He’s going to come back and you’ll have to put him under the cap.
“But I think Peter Chiarelli wanted to – he’s made so many changes to this team over the past year and a half, I think he really wanted to give this team a good, long here into the season before he decided what his next move was.
“I will tell you this – if they don’t find more consistency defensively, certainly over the next month, it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s an area they looked again, yes.”
