Red Wings could move Howard, and then bring him back
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: (mailbag) Goaltender Jimmy Howard is entering the final season of his deal. If the Red Wings get a decent offer for him at the trade deadline they could move him.
The Wings signed Jonathan Bernier for three years at $3 million per, and with no other goalie ready to back up, they could look bring Howard back on a two-year at a lower cap hit.
There is still some concern over Henrik Zetterberg‘s back and if he’ll be able to play this season.
Not much going on at the moment with regards to a winger for Krejci
Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports Boston: (mailbag) At this point there is nothing going on with regards to bringing in a winger for David Krejci and their second line. There may not be much going on until training camp/preseason.
After signing John Moore, there is no urgency to bring in another left-handed defenseman. At some point, they could move Torey Krug in a deal if they get a big return.
Columbus Blue Jackets winger Artemi Panarin may be on the only pure scorer that is available for trade before the start of the season. The Blue Jackets don’t have to trade him this offseason though, and there is also the question as to whether he’d want to sign a long-term deal with the Bruins. The Blue Jackets would also be looking for a return that would help them now and not just about futures.
Philadelphia Flyers Wayne Simmonds could be made available at some point and he’d be a great fit beside Krejci.
Don’t see GM Don Sweeney being on the hot seat just yet.
There could be a chance that Bruins move David Pastrnak off of the line with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand and play him with Krejci. Against teams with depth issues, would keep them together, but against the top teams, it may be better to break them up.
