Maple Leafs and Marner’s agent speak often
Terry Koshan: Mitch Marner‘s agent Darren Ferris speaks with the Toronto Maple Leafs often – sometimes several times a week – about a Marner extension. This is all part of the process.
From Ferris there isn’t anything imminent but that could obviously change quickly.
On what the Golden Knights could do at the trade deadline
SinBin.Vegas: The Vegas Golden Knights have lots of second-round picks but not a lot of tradeable assets after that. Can’t see them giving up any significant assets, but GM George McPhee does like to make moves.
Can’t see them adding more than a depth forward.
SinBin.Vegas: Do think they could be short one defenseman. They could give Erik Brannstrom, Jake Bischoff, Nicolas Hague or Zach Whitecloud a shot and see if one of the those fills the need. If that doesn’t work out, they could look at moving a second-round pick(s) for one.
What could Skinner’s next contract look like?
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dreger on TSN 1050 when asked if Buffalo Sabres pending free agent Jeff Skinner could hit the $10 million if he continues to put up numbers.
“That’s very high for me, but it all depends obviously on the term that makes sense for Jeff Skinner and the Buffalo Sabres,’ indicated Dreger. “If he wants an eight-year term, then I think that you’re going to be somewhere around the $8 million mark, maybe a hair under if Skinner is really is really happy with Buffalo and knows that he’s got a good thing going there. On the open market, could he command more? Of course he could command more. But again, if I were the player, I’d be careful with this one.”
