NHL Rumors: Coyotes, Isles, Canucks, Stars, Avs, Wild, Kings and Blue Jackets

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Pierre LeBrun: The Coyotes could make another attempt to re-sign center Martin Hanzal. It may depend on how good the trade offers are for him between now and the trade deadline.

On Vadim Shipachyov and Evgenii Dadonov …

Igor Eronko: An SKA executive: “Now Shipachyov & Dadonov are free to leave the KHL for the NHL, but there’s an agreement they won’t until the end of the season.”

On the NY Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, LA Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets …

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: A couple sources indicating that the players may be willing to talk about limiting term to five or six years and/or tightening bonuses. The players don’t like escrow.

A couple GM are hoping next year’s salary cap will be set at $75 million.

The NY Islanders haven’t asked for permission to speak with former Canucks GM Mike Gillis about a hockey operations position.

Rumor strongly denied that the Islanders were willing to trade prospect Josh Ho-Sang for immediate help.

Vancouver Canucks president Trevor Linden suggested they might consider bringing Ryan Miller back. Friedman wonders if the Anaheim would add something along with Jonathan Bernier for Miller. Both Miller and Bernier are pending UFAs.

Friedman doesn’t think the Stars would trade defensemen John Klingberg, Julius Honka, Jordie Benn and Stephen Johns. Others could possibly be moved.

The Colorado Avalanche are looking for defensemen. Semyon Varlamov could be a trade candidate. They are not trading Nathan MacKinnon. The Avalanche told teams last offseason that Matt Duchene (two years at $6 million) and Gabriel Landeskog (four years at $5.57 million) have great value contracts, so the price increases for them. The Avs have $17 million coming off the cap this offseason, so maybe they’ll try to add before they break up their core.

The Minnesota Wild would be a potential for Edmonton Oilers forward Matt Hendricks if they want to move him. The Wild may need the Oilers to retain some salary as they are at the cap.

The LA Kings let teams know before they put Teddy Purcell on waivers that they would trade him, but wouldn’t take back a contract. The Senators might have had room for Purcell, but it may have been a budget issue.

Friedman wonders if the Columbus Blue Jackets would be interested in Coyotes center Martin Hanzal.
