The Edmonton Oilers and Milan Lucic
David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: Milan Lucic opines about playing for the Vancouver Canucks.
“That’s definitely something I wouldn’t rule out. It’s obviously something that potentially could happen. Like you said, things haven’t gone that well for me here with the Oilers. Especially the last year and a half. So a new GM, new coach, which haven’t even been named yet, coming in. You don’t even know what their plan is moving forward, and stuff like that. Like I said, it’s definitely something that could potentially happen…”
“I remember doing an interview back in ’07 before the Mem Cup and I said it would always be a dream of mine to some day play for the Canucks. You still have that kid inside of you. You still have that dream of playing for your home town team. And like I said you never know what the future has in store and what potentially can happen.”
For this to happen, Lucic probably would fetch a negative contract in return — Loui Eriksson was mentioned. Also, Lucic cannot be bought out and has a no-movement clause. Trade is the only solution and the forward seems ready for a move sooner rather than later. All this present day talk indicates there is fire with that smoke.
Trading Adam Larsson? Don’t do it.
Allan Mitchell of The Athletic: A tough year has many questioning Adam Larsson’s value with the Oilers. It was a rough season defensively for everyone in Edmonton. Taking in his body of work consists of looking at all three seasons for the Edmonton Oilers. Focusing on last year would be unfair. He ranks the best among all Oilers defensemen when it comes to advanced metrics.
The daily latest on the Edmonton Oilers GM search
Ryan Rishaug: The Edmonton Oilers general manager race seems to be coming down the stretch. Candidates include Mark Hunter and Keith Gretzky. Ken Holland is the fly in the ointment IF he wants the job. A resolution is expected within the next four or five days. That is different than the few weeks timeline proposed most of the week.
