On the Minnesota Wild …
Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: Before the was dealt to the Buffalo Sabres, defenseman Marco Scandella’s knew his name was in the rumor mill. Wild GM Chuck Fletcher kept Scandella’s agent in the loop what was going on, so he was prepared that he could be on the move.
“It’s part of the business, but when the rumors are out there and you hear it on TV, too, it’s not easy. It was the first time in my career that I’ve gone through a trade, even since junior, so it was new to me and it’s a little bit stressful.
“I figured something was likely. Just looking at the situation with the team, with the cap issues, I knew it was very possible, especially when I realized my name was in the mix of things. It wasn’t easy.”
Scandella is thankful for the only organization he had been with but is excited for the new challenge.
Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: Wild prospect Jordan Greenway plans on returning to Boston University next year and hasn’t been pressured by the Wild to sign and go pro.
It’s also in the back of his mind that he could get a call to go to the 2018 Winter Olympics for Team USA.
The Wild own Greenway’s rights until June 1st 2019, but he has no intentions of becoming a free agent.
“No, no, I’m happy here at Minnesota, I’ve pretty much grown up here, I went to Shattuck for awhile, I love the state, I love the city here, everything about this place,” Greenway said. “I honestly don’t have any intentions about becoming a free agent. Like I said, I just really want to go back , have a really good year and be confident about coming in next year.”
