Eric Engels: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin made it clear without saying it that pending free agent Alexander Radulov would get a new contract but it won’t be announced after the expansion draft.
Eric Engels: Bergevin won’t talk about contract negotiations with Radulov at all, and Radulov is saying he doesn’t know and not involved in the process.
Eric Engels: Radulov’s deal will come down to term. He is looking for as many years as he can, and the Canadiens are hoping to stay around two or three years.

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman was on 630 CHED talking about the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday about them not moving Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog. Maybe only the Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets had the pieces that the Avalanche were asking for at the deadline.
“But again, it’s hard to make that deal and win. And in the summer, or after the playoffs are over, there’s going to be 10-15 or maybe 20 more teams that are in this because they’re going to say, ‘Okay, now is our time where we can make our changes, including this, and do the other things we need to do to still be successful and still be able to win.’
“… If you get the deal you want, make it now. But I think it’s much more likely they get the deal they want (in the off-season.)”
