Subban trade rumors tied to Duchene

@Prospects_Watch: Darren Dreger was on TSN 690 last week and said that there is something to the P.K. Subban trade rumors, and that it’s connected to creating the salary cap space to go after pending free agent forward Matt Duchene.

Dreger adds that Subban’s contract won’t be easy to move and doubtful that the Predators want to retain any salary.

Forward Kyle Turris could be another player that could be on the move.

Subban and his agent talked about the trade rumors

TVA Sports: (through google translate) P.K. Subban has found his name in trade rumors since the end of the first round. Subban met with his agent Don Meehan in Toronto.

“Of course, speculation and rumors are still part of our sport and we talked about it. He spoke about his plans for the summer in terms of training and events he needs to participate in.”

Pros and Cons of some potential moves

Adam Vingan of The Athletic: Changes will be coming to the Nashville Predators according to GM David Poile.

Looking at some potential moves the Predators could make, with the pros and cons to those potential moves.

Trade P.K. Subban – Carries a $9 million salary cap hit for another three years. He may be their best trade chip to acquire an elite forward. When healthy he’s arguably their best defenseman and they could be worse off without him.

Trade Kyle Turris – Owed $6 million through 2024. Dealt with injuries and struggled this past season. They could try to move and find a better second-line center — Matt Duchene? They’d be selling low on Turris and may have to retain salary if they wanted to move him.

Trade Ryan Ellis – Has had knee surgery and entering first-year of an eight-year at a $6.25 million salary cap hit. Ellis didn’t get a NTC or NMC, so it may negatively affect future free agents if traded before the deal even kicks in.

Trade Nick Bonino – Carries a $4.1 million cap hit through 2021 and could be selling high after a 17 goal season. Don’t need to take back a player. Would lose his defensive side of the game.

Trade Roman Josi – No chance. The only way it would happen would be if there was a complete breakdown during their contract extension negotiations.
