On the New York Rangers and Rick Nash …

Bob McKenzie: The Rangers asked Rick Nash for a list of the 18 teams he can’t be traded too, and he provided them with the list. They can now trade him to a team not on the list without asking for his permission.

Bob McKenzie: “I would imagine the 12 teams Nash is willing to go to are teams he believes would give him the best shot to compete for the Cup and would either have the need for a scoring (rental) winger and/or be willing to pay the price.”

Steve Zipay of Newsday: The Rangers have asked forward Rick Nash for a list of teams that he would accept a trade too. He has a no-movement clause and a modified no-trade clause.

“When I got asked, I was definitely in shock at first. You expect it’s going to happen, but you don’t know the feeling until it actually happens when they ask you to submit a list. My one goal is to win a Cup with the Rangers and have a successful season for the Rangers, so it’s unfortunate — the business side of it — and when you’re asked to make a list, you think of the teams that have the best chance .”

It is believed that Nash doesn’t want to play for a Canadian team. The teams on his list are not known yet. Teams that could be good fits include the Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators and the St. Louis Blues.

Justin Tasch on the NY Daily News: Nash’s preference is to remain with the Rangers.

“Oh, for sure. 100 percent. No question there,” Nash said. “I love everything that comes along with being a Ranger, living in New York City and playing for the city. No question.”

He doesn’t want to leave but knew his time could be coming.

“You’d kind of be stupid to not to, really,” he said. “When you lose games, things are gonna change. I’ve been on the other end of this a lot of times, have seen guys go through it, and now it’s my turn. It’s not a fun feeling but you understand the business situation.”
