On the Montreal Canadiens …

Richard Labbe: Montreal Canadiens owner Geoff Molson said yesterday that he and Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin talk about star players “including (John) Tavares’

Arthur Staple: Am sure that Molson and Bergeron had those talks, but you “can’t talk about other teams’ players publicly though.”

Arthur Staple: “Wonder if Mr. Molson has any discussions with Bergevin about NHL tampering rules too.”

Eric Engels: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin has basically ruled out Alex Galchenyuk playing center. He added that he’s seen enough to know that it won’t work.

Arpon Basu: Bergevin added that it’s still possible that Galchenyuk could develop into a center, but he can’t handle that defensive side of things at the moment.

Arpon Basu: Bergevin said that it is possible for Galchenyuk to learn how to play center while playing on the wing, but it is possible that he may never learn.

On the Boston Bruins …

Aivis Kalnins: There are some rumblings that Bruins restricted free agent forward David Pastrnak could play in the KHL this season. He has multiple contract offers on the table.

Aivis Kalnins: Pastrnak’s European agent: “Not much would change if we decided to go that direction for a year.”

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: As of last night there wasn’t a confirm or deny from agent JP Barry on the KHL report.

Boston Bruins: Bruins GM Don Sweeney on the David Pastrnak situation: “We’ll continue to talk to try and find common ground.”

On the Minnesota Wild …

Michael Russo of The Athletic Minnesota: Marcus Foligno‘s agent is “optimistic” that a new contract for the restricted free agent can get done by the start of training camp on Thursday.

“Both sides are still talking actively and daily,” Morris said. “It’s just a situation where we’re trying to find common ground with their cap crunch restrictions.”

The Wild are looking to get Foligno signed to a three- or four-year deal.
