On the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning …
Larry Brooks of the NY Post: Rick Nash said his 12-team trade list includes teams he thinks have the best shot at the Cup and ones that he thinks would be good for his family. His list also contains teams from Canada.
There are some teams that are not on Nash’s list that have reached out to his agent to see if they could persuade him to be added. Nash may not be at that point just yet.
The Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins are interested. The Winnipeg Jets might be interested. The Toronto Maple Leafs could also join the list of teams interested.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are extremely interested in defenseman Ryan McDonagh. The Rangers should be looking at Mikhail Sergachev or high-end prospects in Boris Katchouk, Taylor Raddysh or Cal Foote.
On the Carolina Hurricanes …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie was TSN 1050 as was asked why Jeff Skinner‘s name has come up when the Hurricanes are in the playoff race.
“Well, I don’t know that they’re necessarily selling,” indicated McKenzie. “I think what it is is Skinner’s name going up there might be a reflection that there are some teams that think they can go in and buy low. That a guy who scored 37 last year and historically has been a good goal scorer in the National Hockey League, that maybe this is a situation… I don’t think it’s a coincidence that his name popped up on the Trade Bait board the same week that Billy Peters absolutely blistered his team for lack of effort and, ‘We can’t keep coming out with the same group every night,’ and kind of threw down a gauntlet or challenge to management and ownership that maybe they need to change up the players.”
isn’t convinced that the Hurricanes are ready to trade Skinner just yet. Skinner is a free agent after next season and carries a $5.75 million cap hit. He’ll be looking for another long-term big contract.
believes teams are looking to buy low on Skinner.
