A fit between the Oilers and Canucks involving Lucic and Eriksson?
TSN: Darren Dreger on if there could be a fit between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks with regards to Milan Lucic and Loui Eriksson. Oilers new coach Dave Tippett had Eriksson in Dallas for three seasons.
Lucic does have one more year than Eriksson, so the Oilers may have to toss something extra in.
“The Vancouver Canucks do see value in Milan Lucic, in that they have a younger team, they have some smallish players if you look at Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson and now you have Quinn Hughes on the back end. Milan Lucic could add a little bit of bite, but for the Vancouver Canucks to consider that type of swap I think that there would have to be some type of sweetener coming from the Edmonton Oilers to take on the extra year.”
Canucks looking at Zucker
Patrick Johnston of the Vancouver Sun: The Vancouver Canucks would like to add a top-six forward. Jason Halford reported from sources that they have multiple offers on the table for Minnesota Wild winger Jason Zucker.
The report that the Wild asked for Brock Boeser is laughable.
Zucker would be an upgrade over Jake Virtanen and he could be used in a package.
Maple Leafs are active in the trade market
Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun: Sources are saying that the Toronto Maple Leafs are really active in the trade market, as well as trying to get Mitch Marner signed to an extension.
The Maple Leafs have talked to teams about Kasperi Kapanen, Patrick Marleau and possibly Connor Brown. is getting conflicting reports on Brown’s availability.
The Leafs need to get Marner signed, then sign Andreas Johnsson, possibly Kapanen and then need to upgrade their blue line or re-sign Jake Gardiner
Defenseman Gardiner would love to stay in Toronto.
Marleau had planned mid-season to sell his house because of some U.S. tax implications.
