Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger on TSN 690 when asked if the Montreal Canadiens could look at add someone before the trade deadline, giving them more time to get use to a new team.
“Yeah, I think that’s fair,” agreed Dreger. “The question is – what’s he most seeking? I know that Bergevin and the Montreal Canadiens have interest in Matt Duchene. That’s not a secret. There’s been a fair bit of speculation on that front. But does he have the appetite or the stomach to pay the enormous asking price in-season for Matt Duchene. And then that’s what we don’t know.
“I feel like it’s unlikely. You’re not going to damage your team to bring in one player, even though that player is a really good player as Matt Duchene is. So, I mean, that one is a bit of a long shot. But it’s one that we’ll keep an eye on.
“Then you look at the Montreal Canadiens’ blueline, and you wonder if there’s not an upgrade that should be made there. But again, it’s so tough to do any of that right now and even if you look at March 1 not being that far away, and you look at the NHL standings…”
