On the Pavel Datsyuk, Bill Peters, Ken Holland, Daniel Brickley, Florida Panthers and the Chicago Blackhawks …

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: Pavel Datsyuk’s agent Dan Milstein shoots down the rumors that Datsyuk could be returning to the Detroit for next season.

Carolina Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters has a year left on his contract but several sources are saying that he has an “out” clause after this season. He may have a week after the season where he can choose to opt out or not. His salary is $1.6 million next season.

Indications are that Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland will be back, with Craig Custance reporting it could be a three-year extension, hearing it could be two.

The Red Wings may have the advantage over the LA Kings and San Jose Sharks regarding NCAA free agent Daniel Brickley as they can burn a year of his deal right away. The Kings and Sharks are in the playoff hunt and may have to wait.

The Florida Panthers are trying to trade Adam Mascherin, their 2016 second-round pick as he’s told them he won’t sign with them. He would re-enter the draft this year if he’s not signed. Interested teams may not want to give up much knowing they could have the chance to draft him.

There has been some rumor talk that the Chicago Blackhawks could consider trading their lottery pick for immediate help, though GM Stan Bowman may not like that idea too much.

“I would be surprised if we traded it. Maybe if it was for a 22- or 23-year-old, who would be a couple of years ahead of draft age. But not for a 25- or 26-year-old. We think fans will like (newly signed) Dylan Sikura…. Add him to Alex DeBrincat and Nick Schmaltz. We want to add to that group…. Like I said, maybe for someone who is a couple years ahead but has a ton of hockey left.”
