Mailbag involving Corey Perry, Wayne Simmonds, Artemi Panarin and the Nashville Predators
Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) Potential landing spots for Corey Perry include the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, San Jose Sharks, Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Wayne Simmons could be an option for the Anaheim Ducks, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense with their youth movement up front. The Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets could be in Simmonds.
Artemi Panarin ending up in Florida is prediction, but the Avalanche make some sense. Islanders and Rangers if he’s looking for the big lights.
The Nashville Predators are the favorites for Matt Duchene. They’d like to move Kyle Turris‘ contract – $6 million for another five seasons. Free Agent wing options could include Gustav Nyquist, Anders Lee, Mats Zuccarello and Corey Perry.
Lehner’s time with the New York Islanders may be coming to the end
Arthur Staple of The Athletic: New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello is holding to a short-term deal at under $5 million a season while anything under $5 million is a non-starter for goaltender Robin Lehner according to a Craig Custance report.
It’s looking like Lehner’s time in an Islanders jersey may be over.
The Islanders have been eyeing UFAs Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin, which would cost over $22 million and also end the return of Anders Lee as they wouldn’t have enough room for all.
The Islanders must have a backup plan if they lose out on both goalies – possibly Cam Talbot who they’ve also contacted.
Florida Panthers options in net
Mike DiPasquale: Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon said that he’s hopeful that he can make Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin offers that they can’t refuse. There are no details about money.
George Richards: Assume that the Florida Panthers have a Plan B and assume that Robin Lehner is it. Don’t know if they have an official meeting.
