On the Philadelphia Flyers …
Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Pending free agent defenseman Michael Del Zotto knows he could be traded before the deadline. It’s the first time in his career that he’s hitting the deadline as a pending free agent.
“I know how it works,” he said of teams’ renting players for the stretch run. “This is my eighth season and I’ve seen it happen. I’ve had some of my teammates and closest friends traded in the past. I’ve been traded. You understand the business.”
Del Zotto adds:
“At the end of the day, it’s a business and I don’t know what’s going to happen. You see which way the team is trending. We have a lot of defensive prospects coming up, and I’d love to be a veteran and help them along the way. With all the adversity in my career and what I’ve overcome, . But we’ll see what happens.”
On the Boston Bruins …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger on TSN 1260 talking about the Boston Bruins and what they may be thinking. Do they make a deal for a stronger playoff push.
“They definitely have interest in what’s going on in Colorado. I think Landeskog is probably a better fit for them than Duchene, but that’s not to say that they wouldn’t have interest in both of those guys. And we know that Boston forever has been looking for a defenseman.
“But I also get that sense – and it’s not something that’s developed in the last four or five days or the week – I get the sense that Boston is okay with not doing a great deal because they like what they’ve got in Pastrnak and Spooner and they’ve got McAvoy and others coming.”
They may need to hit the brakes a bit to make sure they make the right decision.
