On the Nashville Predators …
Adam Vingan of The Tennessean: Viktor Arvidsson and the Nashville Predators are scheduled to have an arbitration hearing on Saturday, with a ruling by Monday. The sides can agree to a deal anytime before the ruling.
Reports are the Predators offered a two-year deal at $2.75 million per, with Arvidsson asking for a one-year deal at $4.5 million.
A comparable for Arvidsson’s camp could be Florida Panthers Vincent Trocheck‘s six-year deal with a $4.75 million cap hit.
A shorter term comparable could be Ottawa Senators Mark Stone and his three-year, $10.5 million deal.
On the Detroit Red Wings …
Craig Custance: With the Detroit Red Wings and Tomas Tatar going to arbitration yesterday, would guess that it means a one-year deal at around $4.8 million.
Craig Custance: A one-year deal would make Tatar an unrestricted free agent after next season and would make him a potential trade deadline rental for someone.
Craig Custance: The Red Wings could potentially be able to get first round picks at the deadline for Mike Green and Tomas Tatar. It is not easy to acquire first round picks and the 2018 draft is expected to be a good one.
Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News: It is a bit of surprise that Tatar and the Red Wings weren’t able to get a deal done before yesterday’s hearing.
Tatar will get a one-year deal after the sides were apart on both money and term.
Tatar had been looking for a six- or seven-year deal in the $6 million range, with the Red Wings not wanting to go over five years and around $5 million a season.
If the Red Wings are out of the playoff race at the trade deadline, there is a good chance that they could trade him. The Wings should be able to get a high draft pick or a highly rated prospect for him.
The Red Wings still need to sign RFA Andreas Athanasiou and he has little leverage and is not arbitration eligible.
